Experience
I have 5+ years of tutoring elementary school students. During my time at Santa Clara University, I worked as a teacher's aid in a classroom and during the summers I tutored students one-on-one in tutoring. After graduating from Santa Clara University, I joined AmeriCorps and taught a literacy intervention program at a public elementary school in San Francisco. During this time, I worked with over 100 students, developed a personalized study program for each student, and assessed their progress three times a year to measure progress. The skills of focus included fluency, comprehension, and phonics. Last Fall, I began a Master's in Mental Health program, focusing specifically on children and adolescents. My most recent work has been in the emergency room on the psychiatric triage team working with children and families in crisis. While mental health is what I am studying, literacy intervention continues to be a passion of mine. Whether it be practicing to build confidence or learning specific literacy skills, Summer is the perfect time to work on reading!
